In this video I show you how you can make automatic shape outline – be it object or person – in DaVinci Resolve by using the MAGICK MASK tool. I have to emphasize that this is a Studio only feature, so you can’t use it in the FREE version of DaVinci Resolve. If you want to do an outline in the free version you still can, but you’ll have to do it by hand using polygons, which may be fun to do, but it definitely takes a lot of time.
What you also need to know is that for some reason the Magic Mask tracking breaks after you move or scale the clip in the edit page, so I suggest you make those adjustments before you do the magic mask tracking, unless you want to do the magic mask tracking twice – it’s your time so spend it how you want.
Since this is basically an effect made in the color page, you can apply it to other clips in the timeline by simply copying and pasting the color correction. However, you can also save this effect as a preset so you can use it in other projects and you can see how to do that in this post Save Color Page Effect as a Preset | DaVinci Resolve
